Long Beach Dance Conditioning (LBDC) is a place where teaching is an art and your body transforms.

The environment and ambiance at our studio reflects and supports the importance of mind body connection. This focus assists in the mastery of our teaching goals. Long Beach Dance Conditioning incorporates two unique approaches to body conditioning:

Core Intelligence

LBDC continues to offer the very best in professional Pilates training, beginning with Core Intelligence. C.I. is the foundation course for all LBDC training tracks and a mandatory prerequisite for all LBDC education.

P.L.C. Objectives

The P.L.C. Curriculum will continue in 2011.

Upon completion of all course requirements the student can expect to:

  • teach the entire body of work of Joseph H. Pilates
  • work with clients of all ability levels, including
    • the elderly
    • the average population
    • sport and fitness oriented
    • elite athletes/dancers
  • Anatomical terminology and functional relationships of structures and their potential
  • Postural analysis
  • Functional integration of the proper biomechanics into the Pilates syllabus
  • Refined adaptations for the use in the clinical environment such as sports and dance medicine, orthopedics, and physical therapy
  • Effective skill development in efficiency of tactile and verbal cueing with emphasis on safe movement patterning

Course Curriculum includes:

  • Extensive Pilates equipment repertoire in three progressions
  • Progressive mat work technique and therapeutic adaptations into a complete back maintenance class
  • In-depth functional anatomy and biomechanics illustrated with 3D PowerPoint presentation and lab work
  • Practical application of these learnings is applied in the analysis of the movement repertoire.
  • Curriculum includes the new diagonal tactile concepts and language of touch leading into effective teaching practices.
